The Material Girl

Ramen noodles and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the little people and sea bass tartar, strawberry gazpacho and sardines followed by a main course of lobster with seaweed risotto for M'Lady.

At a cost of between $500 and $2500 per night, Mrs. Fearless Reader is sleeping in Marabella, Spain’s Hotel Villa Padierna, one of the world’s Top Ten hotels, while the rest of us toss and turn in our beds worried about our jobs and the declining economy.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has stated that the Material Girl will pay for her own personal expenses, as will the private entourage traveling with her. The overall cost of the trip, however, will not be fully covered with personal out-of-pocket money, given that the First Lady has full-time Secret Service protection and has to travel on board an official Air Force charter plane, which is covered by taxpayers.

Mr. and Mrs. Fearless Reader simply do not possess, nor do they understand, humility or decency. And in the corner Madam Defarge continues with her knitting.

This and your lovely photo-shop of her husband in Marie's finery set me off over at TWP..that and the fact that I had a "deficit moment" doing my bills and realized that, while this FLOTUS was sashaying around Marbella, having beaches cleared for her and meeting with the King and Queen of Spain so her trip was an official visit and, therefore, largely on our dime, I was stuck reconciling a two-day vacation to Berdoo in the Inland Empire out here in SoCal.
