Most people pay little attention to politics until they see a direct effect on their lives. They could care little about the Civil war in Syria or the unrest in Egypt or even the national debt. To a certain extent those things are far removed from their daily life. But when something hits them hard in the ole pocket book, or tells them what doctor they can see---if any, then suddenly they see the light and politics matters a great deal. This is one of those defining moments where those in Washington must hear the people or suffer the consequences at the polls in 2014.

Ron, I am witnessing this first hand. I just shook my head and advised these people who were surprised that I'd known about it for 4 years.
