Did The Founders Have This In Mind?

Such an innocent line in our Constitution . . .

Article 1 - 8.3 To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and   among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;

With a single sentence yours and my government has been stealing our freedoms away. Read that one more time please. Does it say anything about our governments right to take our freedoms?

In a liberal's mind, I'm afraid it does. Chief Justice Roberts
and 4 other justices think so too.

The door has been now opened for the government to tax to
control our behavior. If you don't eat your spinach they'll
fine you and call it a tax.

Open Letter to Mitt Romney and (Other) Establishment GOP

From our Friend Fuzzy of Fuzzy Slippers

There seems to be some general, and perhaps understandable,
confusion among both leftists and the establishment GOP
about the TEA Party and its very real role in national politics.
I thought I’d take a few minutes to explain a few home truths
to you so that you don’t misread a potential White House win

Issa Plans To Move On (Updated)

Move on with contempt of Congress vote.

House Republicans plan to press on with consideration Wednesday by the Oversight and Government Reform Committee of a vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress regarding a stand-off over documents tied to the botched Fast and Furious" sting operation.
The announcement Tuesday night by committee chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., followed a closed-door meeting at the Capitol between Issa and other Republican and Democratic lawmakers with Holder at the U.S. Capitol. Issa described himself as disappointed and still hoping for a breakthrough.
Everyone in that room knew Holder wasn't going to produce anything that would be helpful or truthful.
But Issa said, "Today, the Attorney General informed us that the Department would not be producing those documents. The only offer they made involved us ending our investigation."
"While I still hope the Department will reconsider its decision so tomorrow's vote can be postponed, after this meeting I cannot say that I am optimistic. At this point, we simply do not have the documents we have repeatedly said we need to justify the postponement of a contempt vote in committee," said Issa.
Time to get this before the full House and boot the thug.
Update:
Eric Holder didn't turn over any new documents. None, zip, zero, nada...

Same Bravo Sierra, different day..

One day after the Framing Speech in Cleveland and it's less than charitable press reviews, Obama is skewered by several items that accurately characterize the sum and essence of this fool's lip-flappin', G-droppin' message to his homies.

First, an ad from American Crossroads devishly disguised in the red, white, and powder blue mantle of the Obama color scheme:

..and then this cartoon by the incomparable Ramirez comparing our former presidents' famous remarks to The Pantload's soaring rhetoric:

And then there's always the latest gambit that The First Fool has thrown agaist the wall to see if it will stick: alone and without the consent or approval of congress, he's gonna order the cessation of deportation of young illegals entering this country:
The Obama administration announced Friday it will stop deporting illegal immigrants who come to the country at a young age.

The politically charged decision comes as Obama faces a tough reelection fight against Republican Mitt Romney, with Hispanic voters in swing states seen as a key bloc.

The change in policy could allow as many as 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally not only to remain in the country without fear of being deported, but to work legally, according to a senior administration official speaking to reporters Friday.

Obama is set to make a statement at 1:15 p.m. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced the new policy Friday morning.

“Our nation’s immigration laws must be enforced in a firm and sensible manner,” Napolitano said in a statement. “But they are not designed to be blindly enforced without consideration given to the individual circumstances of each case. Nor are they designed to remove productive young people to countries where they may not have lived or even speak the language. Discretion, which is used in so many other areas, is especially justified here.”
Many point out that Romney, appearing on Face the Nation this Sunday (his first non-Fox "unsafe" appearance), needs to point out that this is an election gambit designed to pander to the intersection of two subsets of the electorate Obama desperately needs: young folks and illegals -- and, by extension, Hispanics. He can also say that the Tinkers-to-Evers-to-Chance on this is the bleeding heart mantra of “would you deport an innocent 16-year-old child who has done nothing, obeyed the law, and his/her only fault is that they were brought here by their parents” is extended to the parents: “Would you deport the parents of an innocent 16-year-old child who..”

And that means that those folks (the parents) will be here to take jobs from legal immigrant workers and American citizens AND perforce, their children will need to continue their education and have their healthcare paid for by the taxpayer.

I personally think, like the other strategies tried by this gang that couldn't shoot straight -- the war on wimminses, the war on dogs, the war on Bain Capital, the war on Ann Romney, the war on war, etc. -- that this will only succeed in placing a large orange Chef Boy-ar-Dee stain on the plaster and another messy pile of noodles on the floor below.

Give the man what he wants..

Romney's latest ad on the heels of The Pantload's droning, mewling, creepy, framing speech today:

Smart Stew

(Posted by the War Planner who desperately wants to start doing the rule-five-Friday thingamajig except he spends too much time looking at Odie's Rule Five Friday posts.)

A 50-something year old Muslim man arrived at his seat on a crowded flight and immediately didn't want the seat. The seat was next to an elderly white woman reading her Bible. Disgusted, the Muslim man immediately summoned the flight attendant and demanded a new seat. The man said "I cannot sit here next to this infidel." The flight attendant said "Let me see if I can find another seat."

After checking, the flight attendant returned and stated "There are no more seats in economy, but I will check with the captain and see if there is something in first class." About 10 minutes went by and the flight attendant returned and stated "The captain has confirmed that there are no more seats in economy, but there is one In first class. It is our company policy to never move a person from economy to first class, but being that it would be some sort of scandal to force a person to sit next to an UNPLEASANT person, the captain agreed to make the switch to first class."

Before the irate Muslim man could say anything, the attendant gestured to the elderly woman and said, "Therefore ma’am, if you would so kindly retrieve your personal items, we would like to move you to the comfort of first class as the captain doesn't want you to sit next to an unpleasant person." Passengers in the seats nearby began to applaud while some gave a standing ovation.

THE HITS KEEP ON COMIN' UPDATE: Another little e-blast from my friend Cappy Robertson and my apologies to the ladies out there:

"Baby, you can drive my car.."

The New 2012 Ford

Renault and Ford have joined forces to create the perfect small car for women.

Mixing the Renault 'Clio' and the Ford 'Taurus' they have designed the 'Clitaurus'. It comes in pink, and the average male car thief won't be able to find it - let alone turn it on - even if someone tells him where it is and how to do it.

Rumor has it though, that it leaks transmission fluid once a month, and can be a real bitch to start in the morning! Some have reported that on cold winter mornings, when you really need it, you can't get it to turn over.

New models are initially fun to own, but very costly to maintain, and horribly expensive to get rid of. Used models may initially appear to have curb appeal and a low price, but eventually have an increased appetite for fuel, and the curb weight typically increases with age. Manufacturers are baffled as to how the size of the trunk increases, but say that the paint may just make it LOOK bigger.

This model is not expected to reach collector status. Most owners will find it is best to lease one, and replace it each year.

Things I didn't know about labor unions...

starting with their tax-exempt status.

How in heavens name did I get to this advanced age without knowing this???  BTW - to save you the trouble of counting the commas in that amount below, it's 32 billion (with a b) and some odd change.

Labor unions are categorized as tax-exempt 501(c)5 organizations.  In 2010, these organizations collectively held $32,498,906,714 in assets.  This number comes from the combined assets of all labor unions and farm bureaus.  After all their expenses, lobbying efforts, and voter intimidation efforts, these organized labor gangsters still have more money than the entire GDP of many countries.  None of it is taxed, and 92% of them are in violation of Dept. of Labor audits.  read the rest

HUD Spending $70 Million To Teach Grant Recipients How To Spend Money It Gave Them

Government is upside down.

At one federal agency, it takes money to spend money. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently announced it is spending $70 million to improve the way its grant recipients spend billions in taxpayer cash.
Why are we giving taxpayer money to folks too stupid to know how to spend it?
CNSNews.com asked a HUD official, “If I’m reading this correctly, this is a grant to teach people how to spend money they already have?”
“Absolutely,” responded HUD spokesman Brian Sullivan.
He said the $70 million is being spent to “amplify” the already-existing community development block grants handed out by HUD. In fiscal year 2012, those bock grants totalled around $3-billion.
The only thing I see being "amplified" is our debt.

Job Killing Decisions

I shall not add many words of my own here as the good Prof. lays it out quite well.

Now the focus was in AZ but be assured as in the Keystone Pipeline and elsewhere in this Republic this administration is doing its utmost to both curtail (actually cease) domestic energy resources and in turn KILL JOBS.

I will state emphatically that this is all by design. It has nothing to do with "Keynesian Economics" (as bad as they may be), but rather a complete and utter contempt of America and her citizens and coming close to destroying all of us for generations, at the very least.

Wake up America, we have little time.

Fast And Furious Wiretaps

It is long past time for Eric Holder to be indicted for lying to Congress.

The lead House Republican investigating Operation Fast and Furious, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), today said senior Justice Department officials had specific information that their federal agents were using controversial "gunwalking" tactics.
Justice Department officials have consistently denied that was the case. But today in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Issa revealed that he has reviewed sealed wiretap applications in the case, which were signed off on the authority of Holder's Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer. Issa wrote Holder "having seen the wiretap applications, we now know that the information coming from the (Justice) Department has been misleading. That must stop."
There is only one way to get the lies to stop. Indict the thug!

Bad Ad? Hardly!

How many of you out there click on a video (You Tube or otherwise) and get those annoying, irritating, time-wasting commercials? Well, I at first was pissed off by the Web Root commercial that appeared at the front of the interview with Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin but was so bowled over by the concept I kept going back to watch it. Here's the You Tube version. Somewhat funny:

The older lady reminds me of my beloved grandmother Sophie. I learned a lot from here. Man, there wasn't a sailor in the entire U. S. Navy nor the merchant fleet who had a thing on Sophie when someone cut her off on the highway!

Maude and Claude

Maude and Claude, both 91, lived in The Villages in Florida . They met at the singles club meeting and discovered over time that they enjoyed each others company. After several weeks of meeting for coffee, Claude asked Maude out for dinner, and much to his delight, she accepted. They had a lovely evening. They dined at the most romantic restaurant in town. Despite their ages, they ended up at his place for an after-dinner drink. Things continued along a natural course, and with age being no inhibitor, Maude soon joined Claude for a most enjoyable roll in the hay. As they were basking in the glow of the magic moments they'd shared, each was lost for a time in his/her own thoughts. Claude was thinking, If I'd known she was a virgin, I'd have been gentler.

Maude was thinking, If I'd known he could still do it, I'd have taken off my pantyhose.

Wintour of our discontent..

"Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York..

- Duke of Gloster, Richard III, Act I Scene 1
It seems that the gang that can't shoot straight -- the Obama campaign -- has now also turned tone-deaf. Last Friday, in addition to hijacking Air Force One to go on a campaign junket thinly veiled as official business (a factory tour and speechifying sandwiched between six fundraisers), they also are going to allow the peasants a pair o' seats at their table at an upcoming NY fundraiser "hosted" by Sara Jessica "Why the long Face" Parker and Anna "I'm always in Vogue" Wintour.

The Romney/RNC Blitzkrieg did not waste any time jumping on this one:

It's a goodly part of the ad in playing in the background with those oh so uncomfortable numbers up close and personal.

How bad was this?

Even Juan Williams on Fox's Chris Matthews Sunday show gets it:

I won't dwell on the annoying accent and arrogance of Wintour as she recounts her good fortune at meeting women like Parker and "Mee-Shell Obah-Ma" but I truly wonder about a campaign whose dissonance includes bashing Romney as a One-Percenter while simultaneously seekign to raise funds with this bitch and Ferris Beuller's wife.

If any of you go, be sure to give us a report on the proceedings. I mean, we're all just waiting on pins and needles out here in flyover country..

Sierra Club Is Against 91% Of America's Energy

What the hell is left?

The Sierra Club has over a half-million members (down from 600,000) and an annual budget of $100 million. They are arguably the most influential environmental lobby in the country. People take them seriously, and politicians listen.
With their opposition to the fossil fuels and nukes, the Sierra Club takes 91% of our current energy sources off the table (see EIA chart at the end of the post). And most of the remaining 9% they’re not too crazy about.
“Fossil fuels have no part in America’s energy future – coal, oil, and natural gas are literally poisoning us. The emergence of natural gas as a significant part of our energy mix is particularly frightening because it dangerously postpones investment in clean energy at a time when we should be doubling down on wind, solar and energy efficiency.”
—Robin Mann, Sierra Club President
North Dakota is the envy of the country employment wise. Largely due to fossil fuels...
Care to spend a winter or summer here without those fossil fuels you despise Mr. Mann?
Temps in North Dakota are Siberia cold in the winter and Africa hot in the summer.

Clown at the wheel..

(Cross-posted from The War Planner.)

I am not in a good mood.

This, I am certain sure, matters little to you but I wanted to set the context for this post. Ain't tripping all over Casa War Planner, strewing rose petals and humming a merry tune. That's all.

And it is not in the slightest that the ass clown in the White House -- our house, The People's House -- continues his feckless, childish, incurious escapades as our chief executive.

It is, I guess because I am awake at 0442 on a Saturday morning faced with the prospect of a full day at hard labor with little sleep and -- among other things -- my IRA down about $14,000 over the last week. (And I ain't rich; that's a sizable decline.)

Just, you know, a number irritants combining into a perfect storm of sullenness.

But, as long as I am up and irritable, let's have at what may be the underlying cause of my $14,000 loss -- and similar losses in your portfolios -- Barack Obama.
Yesterday, the jobs report came out. It showed that the private economy created only 69,000 jobs for the month of May. The report also said there were actually 49,000 fewer jobs in March and April than they originally reported. It also reported that unemployment went rose a to 8.2 percent, a tenth of a percent up from the previous month.

The day before, the ADP Monthly Employment Report stated that U.S. nonfarm private business sector increased by 133,000 from April to May.Also Thursday, the nation's Gross Domestic Product for the first quarter of 2012 was revised from 2.2 percent to an extremely anemic 1.9 percent.

Yesterday, stocks took a huge face plant -- the Dow Jones lost 275 (the most it's lost in 2012) points and the NASDAQ and S&P indexes were similarly off as well.

This morning, the movers and shakers in the world economic arena are saying we could be faced with a run on banks and a freezing of capital markets we saw four years ago. They call it The Great Panic of 2008.
So, amidst all of this terrible economic news, how does our POTUS respond? Well, yesterday, this man rode half way across this country in Air Force One to campaign for another four years for his job -- and you and I are picking up a majority of the expenses for this trip. I'll get back to you on that outrage later. First let me present to you with the White House schedule for 1 June 2012:
9:15 am The President departs the White House en route to Joint Base Andrews

9:30 am The President departs Joint Base Andrews en route to Minneapolis, Minnesota

10:45 am The President arrives at Minneapolis, Minnesota

11:45 am The President tours Honeywell’s Golden Valley facility

12:10 pm The President delivers remarks urging Congress to act on the “To Do List”

1:15 pm The President delivers remarks at a campaign event at
Bachelor Farmer Restaurant, Minneapolis, Minnesota

2:25 pm The President attends a campaign event, Bachelor Farmer Restaurant, Minneapolis, Minnesota

3:20 pm The President departs Minneapolis, Minnesota en route to Chicago, Illinois

6:10 pm The President delivers remarks at a campaign event, Chicago, Chicago Cultural Center, Illinois

7:25 pm The President delivers remarks at a campaign event, Chicago, Illinois, Private Residence
Wow! Now don't you feel better? I mean The Chicago Jesus is really on the job here, ain't he? I feel so much better now knowing that he is able to do some intel on the ground at a factory while Hoovering up some campaign bucks in Minnesota and Illinois.

But aside from him doing absolutely nothing to address the economy -- not even one pivot towards jobs yesterday -- the only thing I can see on his schedule that remotely appears to be a non-campaign event is the 90 minutes he visited the Honeywell plant to look around for half an hour and lecture congress on his "to-do list".

Pot meet kettle.

Oh, and on the subject of who's picking up the tab on these little forays, there's an article that Susan Crabtree did in April on the subject. Ms Crabtree points out:
Mr. Obama has shown a penchant for piggybacking fundraisers onto official trips, and figuring out the details of how much the Obama campaign must reimburse taxpayers for the mixed trips is complicated and opaque, confounding presidential scholars and even the most experienced federal election law experts.

“Nobody knows how much the travel has to be paid for by either the Democratic National Committee or the president's campaign committee, or how they come up with the data, or how long they have to reimburse it after the travel takes place,” said Brett Kappel, an expert on election law at Arent Fox. “It’s a total mystery — it’s a black box.”
Doing some digging, Ms Crabtree surmises that -- whatever is paid -- it probably ain't a whole hell of a lot (emphasis added):
Despite Mr. Obama’s pledge to run the most transparent administration in history, the White House and the Obama campaign have done little to clarify the situation.

White House and campaign spokesmen repeatedly told The Washington Times they were abiding by all campaign laws in their reimbursements for political travel by the president, vice president and other administration officials, but could not shed any light on how those reimbursement figures are determined and when and where the reimbursements are made.

A search of Obama campaign Federal Election Commission reports turned up less than $5,500 in payments last year to the U.S. Treasury — and those payments did not list the purpose behind them.

“The campaign will follow all rules and pay for the portion of travel that relates to political events, as has been true for previous incumbent presidential candidates,” said Obama campaign spokeswoman Katie Hogan.
And to put that five grand in context, there's this to consider:
Few estimates exist for the cost of flying the president, vice president and Cabinet and administration officials around the country, but the extensive advance teams, Secret Service agents, vehicles and military and civilian personnel required are not cheap. In 1998, the Air Force estimated the cost of operating Air Force One, a modified Boeing 747, at at least $57,000 an hour.
So, not only is his lobster-sucking wife living large on our nickel, turns out we're getting stiffed big time so this guy can get the funds to get his sorry ass re-elected.

Ruin your Saturday?

Did mine.

Jobs Report: The other shoe drops..

(cross-posted from The War Planner)

Today's May jobs numbers came out and it was not good. I am sure you have seen all of the buzz on the other sites. And I am sure you will here the spin from the scared-straight Dems who are attempting to save the ass of their amazing jug-eared, golf-playing, slow-jammin' clueless preezy.

..and I am sure you will be engaged in conversations with a couple of those die-hard, liberal Obama butt-swooshers at the office -- you know, the bitter clingers of the left who still love this clown despite the train wreck he's made out of this country. These guys will undoubtedly offer white-knuckled apologia for the whole situation using their favorite "inherited" narrative.

Well, here's a concise rebuttal to those clowns as to who really bear the blame for this economy -- and it goes back to before The Ass-Clown was elected. Cut and fold and keep in your wallet for the occasions where debate with these idiots eventuates:

The last month that the Republicans controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency was December 2006.

What was the unemployment rate in December 2006?

4.4%

New Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Senators Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, etc. all inherited a GOOD economy from Republicans on January 4, 2007!!!

I have had enough of Democrats saying that Obama inherited a bad economy from Bush.

Bush and the Republicans ceased to be in the majority party on January 4, 2007.

Obama and the Democrats began majority party control of spending on January 4, 2007.

The true date of the transition in the balance of power is NOT January 20, 2009. It IS January 4, 2007.

By the way, the low point in the Employment-population ratio during the Bush-Republican majority years was 62.0 in September 2003. The 2003 Bush Tax cuts turned the economy around, and the Employment-population ratio increased all the way up until… the Democrats took majority control of the House, Senate, and overall spending process…

It is Democrats who drove the economy into the ditch.

It is Democrats who pushed the CRA and blocked Republican attempts to reform Fannie/Freddie. It is Democrats who are mostly responsible for TARP, and totally responsible for the Porkulus, Cash for Clunkers, etc. yet they blame that ALL on Bush and then claim it as their baseline to claim that they haven’t increased spending much.

They LIE.

ITguy on June 1, 2012 at 9:30 AM

ITGuy made this remark and is a commenter over on Hot Air. He would bag on Romney (I think he backed Santorum) and would frustrate the hell out of me. But he is a good troop, always has the facts at hand (see above), and can be counted on to be fair and logical.

In any event, and on the main topic, there's much pain in this economy and it's been going on for a long time. Yet Mr Job Pivot is in Minnesota and Illinois today for fundraisers. Too bad he can't squeeze in a round of golf.
